If you are about to subscribe to my email updates/newsletter, email me, or contact me via my website or on social media (or if you have already done any of these things), you should read this notice. The general information about website security and links to third party websites applies to all visitors to my website.
I take your privacy extremely seriously and will only ask you for the information I need. I never sell lists or email addresses or share them with anyone else for marketing purposes.
By subscribing to my email updates/newsletter you agree to having these delivered to your email address. These communications will contain samples of my creative writing, details of forthcoming publications and other relevant information about my writing and author journey.
I do not store your personal information. Instead, my list of newsletter subscribers is managed on a third party site called MailChimp. When you sign up to my newsletter, you consent that I can:
- Transfer your contact information to MailChimp
- Store you contact information in my MailChimp account
- Send you newsletters/emails from my MailChimp account
- Track interactions (e.g., click and open rates) for email marketing purposes.
Unsubscribe at any Time
You can stop receiving emails/ newsletters at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions included at the foot of every email I send you.
Requests to Join my Mailing List
If you have either asked to join or have accepted a personal invitation to join my mailing list, or have filled in a sign-up form at a reading or other event, I will assume that by providing me with your email address, you are giving me consent to process your Personal Information and add you to my mailing list.
Legitimate Business Interest
If you contact me via the Contact Form on my website or email me directly, I will simply reply, relying on lawful basis of processing (in other words, I will not ask for your consent before replying). I will not enter your details on any database without your consent, but your name and email address will automatically be stored as a ‘Contact’ within my email system. I may also store the email/email chain if it contains details I think I might need to refer back to, especially if it contains a review of my work.
If you comment on my social media accounts or on You Tube, records of those transactions will be held by the relevant social media channels. I have access to databases of followers on Twitter and Facebook. In these instances, I am not the data processor.
You are entitled to ask me what information I hold about you and how I am processing that data. This is called a Subject Access Request. To file a request, simply use the Contact Form on my website. I aim to respond to all requests as soon as reasonably possible.
You can ask me to correct your Personal Information at any time.
You can also exercise your right to request to be forgotten. If you have used the Contact Form/emailed me, on receipt of your request, I will delete your data.
For social media, you have control of your own accounts and can change the settings so that I will no longer have access to your data.
My website has security measures in place and has an SSL Certificate.
I use password-protection on my computer, website and social media. If my computer, website or social media accounts were compromised, I would immediately seek advice on the appropriate action to take.

My website and newsletters contain links to other websites. Once you use these links, you will leave my website.
